Those Important Smallest Actions

'Even the smallest actions are important, when done well.
Indeed, a small action performed with the desire to please God
is more pleasing to Him and gives Him greater glory
than an important work done with less fervor.
If we wish to advance in union with God,
we must try to perform well the easy little duties
which come our way at all hours of the day.'

St. Francis de Sales

  2. Ah..the easy little duties! The myriad of things we take for granted and simply do out of habit and never consider as holy. Can sweeping the kitchen floor really bring me into "union" with God? Well yes...if that's what I aim for while doing it. Thank you, Nancy and St Francis...for the much-needed prodding today!

    1. Trish, I was especially struck by the word 'easy' in this quote. Things don't have to be hard to be tedious!!

  3. Yes, this is what motivates me to match socks :) Otherwise, I'd just toss them out. (I have no idea how we end up with so many mismatched ones here...)

    1. Thank you, Melanie!! I am in awe, especially since I thought of this very thing during Mass, probably around the time you were posting about it. Maybe it wasn't a 'during Mass distraction' at all .. but a wee confirmation of your inspiration?

Kindred hearts. Yes. I'd say so :)

      THANK YOU SO MUCH!
