  1. Nancy, I have never seen this painting before, it is beautiful. You have such a gift of putting paintings, quotes and scripture together so create such a faith filled moment, it is like a mini retreat. Thank you.

  2. Poor Jesus..all alone..His Heart already beginning to break.
The dark night engulfing Him in blackest sorrow and lonely tears.
Seeking for someone to "accompany Him in such great solitude"!
    Me? Is it me Jesus?

    Let it be me..

  4. This is the first time I've seen this painting, Nancy. Thank you for putting it on your blog. Inner agony can often be worst than physical pain - I often wonder what He experienced in this garden that made Him sorrowful even unto death...that made Him sweat blood. I think He saw the sins of mankind but I guess I won't know for sure until I die.

    God bless!

    1. Imagine seeing all the sins of mankind. Oh, imagine. I shudder to think of it.

      Thank you, Mary.

  5. Nancy,

I was just looking at the painting on your latest post but can't see anywhere to comment. Such a stark and foreboding atmosphere.

Thank you for choosing and posting such appropriate words and paintings for us to meditate upon over Lent.

In 24 hours we (being ahead of you in time!) will reach Easter with the celebration of the Vigil Mass. Such joy is ahead. But today we sorrow...

I pray you have a wonderful joy-filled Easter!

    1. Thank you, Sue. I have felt so blessed to find these paintings, which happened several months ago. Just working with them... posting them and putting quotes .. has brought about a bit of retreat atmosphere in my own heart, thanks be to God. I spent one whole day last week preparing blog posts ahead of time, so now have a little thought to pop onscreen every day until the first of the week.

A blessed Easter to you as well... a day ahead of my own :)!
